General Product Information
ROCKWOOL stone wool products are made of basalt, a volcanic stone.
ROCKWOOL stone wool products are non-combustible with a melting point of approximately 1000°C. They are particularly suitable for thermal insulation, fire protection and sound reduction/absorption.
ROCKWOOL stone wool is inorganic and contains no nutritious substance. Therefore it will not be attacked by microorganisms. Stone wool will not rot and does not attract vermin. No CFCs, HFCs, HCFCs or asbestos are used in the manufacture of ROCKWOOL stone wool products.
Common Applications
RockTech SPI is supplied as a one piece section of convenient length. Slit along the longitudinal axis for ease of application, the section readily snap closed into position over the pipe. The sections are molded to ensure a firm fit around the piping and the outer surface is ground to ensure the correct insulation thickness is achieved.
RockTech SPI is particularly suitable for both hot piping to conserve energy, maintain process temperatures, provide personnel protection, preventing condensation and to reduce noise emission.
Handling and installation
RockTech SPI products are lightweight and easy to handle. To cut the product, it only requires a sharp knife with serrated edge or a hand saw, measuring tape and steel ruler. RockTech SPI should be secured in position using wire or metal bands in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and protected by metal cladding, mastic or other suitable coatings if required.
